Pauline Bakker has a pleasant aftertaste

She was preceded by big names suchs as Dirk Filarski, Arnoud Colnot and Harrie Kuijten
As of recently, the paintings of Pauline Bakker cannot only be seen on the wall, but also as a label on a nice bottle of Bordeaux. Scholtens Off-licence, which sells the ‘Pauline’ in their own shop at the Dorpsstraat, previously seized the opportunity of the 10-day Art Festival to launch a range of special wines. Pauline chose four paintings with a maritime theme.

Rabobank Cultural Prize:
the painter Pauline Bakker reached the final in the previous edition of the Cultural Prize and became group winner in the category Visual Arts. The jury ruled as follows: “After Pauline Bakker painted the triptych in the Great St Laurens Church, she again gained notoriety when she was invited by the network MAX to participate in the television show “Stars on the Canvas”, where she painted a portrait of Lorreta Schrijver. This invitation is indicative of the evolution of her work. She became known for the artwork that she produced in commission of the municipalities, individuals, companies and the Dutch Royal Navy. Nowadays, she also depicts people in her art. The subjects change, yet the ambience and the stylized painting style remain apparent. With relentless energy, Pauline commits herself to all things related to the art of painting. For this reason, too, we feel we have to nominate her”, thus the jury spoke.

New paintings, inspired by a stay in New York. These paintings possess a recognizable atmosphere, but portray a wholly different subject. A number of these paintings can already been seen on this website, and will be displayed at the Ten-day Art Festival in Bergen, in October.
